EASTER FUN -We hope you have a wonderful Easter holiday, making the most of spending time with your family and enjoying playing games and being outside in the garden. If you need some fun inspiration during the holidays, please find some ideas and activities for the season:

Year 5 and 6

Here you will find the latest learning updates whilst the school is closed. We will update it regularly with maths videos and other instructions. Should you wish to contact us to discuss anything e.g. if your child is struggling with some of the learning or needs signposting to other resources, then please contact us on s.cripps@sudbury.derbyshire.sch.uk 

As a guide, a typical day might include:

  • Spellings or Timestables  (spellings can be practised on www.spellingframe.co.uk or timestables can be practised on either Hit the Button https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button or on Transum https://www.transum.org/Tables/Times_Tables.asp) (30 minutes)
  • Maths - MNP lessons (45 minutes - 1 hour) or Y6 SATs practice pages
  • Break time
  • English - reading tasks in your packs and a writing task either from your packs (Y6 SATs practice pages) or the 100 word challenge approach (https://100wc.net/) (45 minutes - 1 hour)
  • Lunch time
  • Topic - ongoing tasks from the sheet below. Take your time-the task doesn't need completing in 1 day. Alternatively, use the Zoom link below for interactive topic lessons from a home-schooler. (30 minutes- 1 hour)
  • PE - Join Joe Wicks for a PE lesson (30 minutes)
  • Supplementary activities like baking, a walk, playing board games etc

You have been given the CGP Maths 10 minute test books plus I know most of you have got revision guides too to work from. The following links take you to different strands of maths e.g. fractions, percentages. Click on the section you want to look at and there are associated YouTube videos which show you how to solve problems involving these areas. It will give you further examples for you to have a go at yourself.

Year 5

You have been given the MNP textbook and workbook and we plan to upload videos that introduce each lesson (like a 'normal' lesson). After watching the video, work through the relevant page in your workbook, recording answers in your school book. Once complete, you can check the answers on the uploaded answer sheet.

To access the lessons, you can click on the links below or search for Sudbury Primary-Mrs Cripps on YouTube to find my channel and view the videos from there. Please note we are unable to control the ads YouTube use or the suggested videos however, the channel has been created in the 'Education' category for children so I'm hoping that will ensure appropriate content of ads/suggested videos-thanks.

Also, you have reading comprehension sheets to complete-we'll let you know which ones you need to complete and when so we can go through answers afterwards.
