Twinkl Phonics

At Sudbury Primary school, we use Twinkl Phonics to deliver our phonics sessions, providing our pupils with a structured and effective foundation for reading and writing. 

Twinkl Phonics is a Department for Education validated systematic synthetic phonics programme that offers a complete whole-school approach to phonics instruction. This comprehensive synthetic phonics teaching programme is designed to be used with children from nursery to year 2, ensuring consistency and progression across the early years of education.

Key stage 2 children who still require support in embedding reading skills benefit from receiving Twinkl Phonics Intervention, which provides a plaform to build from that children are familiar with from their previous Twinkl Phonics foundations. 

The programme's systematic approach provides teachers with clear guidance and resources, enabling them to deliver high-quality phonics instruction that supports children in developing strong decoding skills and becoming confident, fluent readers.

By using a DfE-validated scheme, we ensure that our phonics teaching meets the highest standards and follows evidence-based practices that have been rigorously assessed for their effectiveness in supporting children's literacy development.
